Bathroom and kitchen refurbishments

The rooms you use most, finished properly.

Everstone renovates kitchens and bathrooms across South Manchester and Cheshire, usually as part of a larger extension or refurbishment. We handle the structural changes, plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling and fitting under one team, led by Dr Omid Khalaj, a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 20 years of experience.

Kitchens and bathrooms are the rooms that get used hardest, and the ones where poor building work shows first. Moving a sink, opening a wall or adding an en-suite all involve drainage, ventilation and sometimes structure.

Most of our kitchen and bathroom work is part of a bigger project, such as an extension, loft conversion or full renovation. That way the layout, services and structure are designed together, rather than squeezed in afterwards.

Because we are an engineer-led company, we also look at what is behind the walls. Old pipework, undersized drainage and poor ventilation cause many of the problems people see in kitchens and bathrooms, and they are much easier to fix while the room is stripped out.

The process

What is involved in your bathroom and kitchen refurbishment?

  1. Layout and structure

We check whether walls can move and design any beams in-house.

  2. Services

Drainage runs, water, electrics and ventilation planned before anything is fitted.

  3. Fitting and finishing

Plastering, tiling, fitting and decoration to a premium standard.

  4. Planning the order of work

We sequence strip-out, first fix, plastering, tiling and fitting so each trade follows the last without delays, and so your home is without a kitchen or bathroom for as short a time as possible.

Costs guide

How much do bathroom and kitchen refurbishments cost in South Manchester?

For a standard bathroom of around 3 to 5 m², allow £5,500 to £8,500 plus VAT for refurbishment labour and core building materials. The bathroom suite, taps, shower fittings, tiles and selected accessories are additional. Larger bathrooms, wet rooms and major layout changes need a tailored quotation. Kitchen refurbishments are priced against your layout, installation requirements and chosen units, worktops and appliances.

The standard bathroom guide covers removal of the existing bathroom, routine plumbing and electrical work, necessary preparation, waterproofing, tiling labour and installation of your selected fittings. Major drainage changes, structural alterations, extensive hidden repairs and design fees are additional. For kitchens, we separate building and service alterations, installation, and the supply of units, worktops and appliances in the quotation.

Guide prices exclude VAT and were last reviewed September 2026. They are benchmark-informed guides, not fixed quotations. Your itemised quotation confirms the scope, specification and exclusions. The agreed price applies to that scope; changes in scope or price are agreed in writing before the additional work proceeds.

What affects the price

  • Whether walls, drains or soil pipes need to move
  • The specification of units, sanitaryware and tiles
  • Underfloor heating and ventilation
  • Whether the room is part of a larger project

Indicative programme

Allow around 2 to 3 weeks on site for a straightforward bathroom. A kitchen installation may take around 1 to 2 weeks; a refurbishment involving services, plastering and flooring may take 3 to 6 weeks. Specialist worktop fabrication and major building alterations can add time.

The programme is time on site. Design, permissions, procurement and the wait for a start date are additional.

FAQs

Bathroom refurbishments: frequently asked questions

Do you fit kitchens and bathrooms on their own?

Everstone mostly renovates kitchens and bathrooms as part of larger extension, loft or refurbishment projects, where the layout, services and structure can be designed together.

Can you knock through to create an open-plan kitchen?

Yes. Everstone removes walls to create open-plan kitchens, with any steel beams designed in-house by a Chartered Civil Engineer and approved by building control.

Can you add an en-suite to a loft conversion?

Yes. An en-suite can usually be added to a loft conversion if a drainage route to the soil stack is available, which Everstone checks at the feasibility stage.

Do you install underfloor heating?

Yes. Everstone installs underfloor heating as part of kitchen, bathroom and extension projects, including in flat renovations.

Who supplies the kitchen units?

Homeowners can choose their own kitchen supplier and Everstone carries out the building work and installation, or the fitting can be included in Everstone's quotation.

How long will I be without a kitchen during a renovation?

The time without a working kitchen depends on the scope, but Everstone plans the order of work to keep it as short as possible and agrees the programme with you before work starts.
